How Can Forst Help You

Chatham NJ

The original home, which was purchased by Susan and Barry Gross for the location, was totally demolished including footings and foundation. We then constructed the 6,500 square foot French Country style home you see now. Great care was taken to build the house into the site. Some design changes we made to work around the trees and the grade. We tried to make it appear as if the house grew out of the ground.

We worked closely with both the architect and the owners on the design and finish selections. The exterior of the home is a stucco finish with a wood shake roof. Pozzi windows and doors complement the style of the home. The large deck in the rear, provides a private place to relax and enjoy the view. The view of the pond is also enjoyed from the interior of the home due to the large expanse of windows across the rear.

The interior of the home is a perfect example of quiet elegance. The layout and room size provide for comfortable family living. Attention to detail is apparent as you walk through the house. Oak floors appear throughout. Some rooms have walnut borders with or without french knots. The interior trim consists of wide casings and base with cornice details that tie into the window casings. The Dining Room features an elaborate entry off the foyer with a coffered ceiling. The two story foyer features a curved stairway with wood rails and steel balusters, providing a warm entry into the home. The kitchen is efficient and functional, as it leads you into the family room. Soft wood tones on the floors and cabinetry combined with the stone of the fireplace, make this a warm, cozy place for evening family gatherings.

Located upstairs, is the Master Suite as well as several bedrooms, laundry room and a "Playroom" over the garage. There is ample storage and close space as well as two cedar closets in the Master Suite. The second floor of the turret provides a comfortable sitting area overlooking the Garden Court below.

The finished basement provides plenty of room for recreation and includes a wine cellar.

Although it is richly appointed, the understated elegance and layout of this home make it warm and inviting.
